MARGOT, EDDY, AND THE SEA ( V )

It was a short flight to San Francisco, and it didn't take Eddy long to board the "Coastal Adventurer". The Captain wasn't on the Bridge, so he went to his cabin and knocked on the door, "It's open. Come on in" Eddy heard the Captain's friendly tone, opened the door and with a smile said: "Good afternoon, Captain." How are you?" Hey, Eddy! Come on in. How was your trip to L.A.? It was great, said Eddy. It was good to see my friends after so many years They really took good care of me How about you? Had any fun? "Not hardly, Eddy". Been catching up on paperwork. Went to a couple of restaurants for dinner, though. That's about all. They have some good seafood in this town! Ready to hit the waves, Eddy? "Yes, Sir. Any time." That's good, because we'll be weighing anchor in about two hours. All the freight is already loaded and we are just waiting on provisions for the galley. "Cookie" rented a truck and took two crewmen with him to do the shopping and load the truck. They should be back any time now.- "Sounds good, Captain." I'll be going down to the engine room, to check and make sure all is in good order and ready to go. See you later, Captain. OK, Eddy. Be careful.
The "Coastal Adventurer" first port of call, was Puerto Quetzal in Guatemala. Several tons of different chemical fertilizers, and hundreds of drums of agricultural insecticides were unloaded.
In El Salvador, Eddy went ashore as soon as he could and hurried to Chalet Margot for a quick visit. Margot had already seen the ship, and was waiting to see if Eddy would come to see her. It surprised her to realize how happy she was to see him. After a big hug, Eddy told her he wouldn't be able to stay this time. because there was little to unload; but he would see her and stay a while on the way back. How long do you think you'll be able to stay? she wanted to know. Eddy, taking both of her hands in his, told her: "We just had a message from the satellite, that we'll be loading lots of coffee and cotton on the way back. At least three days, Margot. We'll have plenty of time; don't you think? Oh, good! I've been thinking Eddy...would you like to go see my farm? You know, the one I told you about.
Of course, Margot. I would love to go. "Great! Let's plan on that when you get back". It's a deal, Margot. Right now, I just have time to sit with you a while, and have a few oysters, and cold beer. Will you join me? You betcha! Sit, and I'll be right back with everything.
Eddy told her about his visit with Jose and Marita in Los Angeles, and that he thought about her every day. I did too, Eddy. And was wondering when, and if you would come back. "I am here, Margot. I told you I would come back! Right now, I think we have time for one more beer, and then I'll have to go.- Don't want to make the Captain wait on me. Just have one more stop in Corinto, Nicaragua before Valparaiso; and before you know it, I'll be back. Reluctantly, Eddy finally had to leave and get back on board. I'll see you soon, Margot. And he was on his way back to the "Adventurer."
